STYLE GURU STYLE: Investing In A Long Vest

Jeans and a warm thermal shirt with combat boots is a classic look that I like to wear when I am going shopping or going to class. It’s an easy outfit to throw on but still looks put together. But sometimes, I want to spice it up a bit with some other accessories that will make the outfit look more fashionable.

Taking inspiration from Alexander Wang’s pre-fall 2015 collection, I paired this simple outfit with a fringed long vest.  As seen in Alexander Wang’s Collection, the vest is used to enhance the dress with more color and a different texture. Both of these elements also help to make the look seem more presentable and more put together.  My vest from Free People helps to do the same thing in my personal look. It adds a different texture and a different color to the mostly monotone palette that is present in my outfit.

I wanted to add some other accessories into the outfit to make it more personal so I threw on my beanie. Not only does this keep me warm, but it also is cohesive with the color and texture of the vest. I also added my kate spade bag which is perfect for any outfit because of its neutral color. Lastly, I wore my everyday rings, necklace and earnings to help keep the focus on the fringed long vest.

Jeans and a thermal shirt with combat boots is the perfect outfit for the fall months but sometimes it’s fun to change it up a bit.  An added long vest will help keep you warmer if you are planning on being outside but do not want to wear your big, bulky winter jacket yet.  Fashionable and functional, what’s better than that?

Get My Look: 1. A long vest. 2. A simple thermal shirt.  3. Combat boots. 4. A beanie.
